Repairing telephone faults

September 6, 2010

When you realise you have a problem on your phone line, there are a number of things that you can do to make fixing it much easier and quicker.

Below is a list of a few checks you should make before contacting the professionals:

1. Check all the connections to the phone line.

Check all the connections to the socket to ensure that they are all connected properly. If you have lots of connections coming out of the phone socket, try unplugging them all and then just connect one phone handset to see if that works.

2. Call the phone line from another number such as a mobile.

If the phone will not ring, the fault will be along the line and possibly in the exchange.

3. If you are connected through a digital system, try turning the system off and then back on again. This will reset the system.

4. If your phone line also connects you to the internet, is it just the phone line or just the internet or both that is at fault. You will be asked this when reporting the fault.

If all of these options fail to restart your system, you can call Best 4 Business Communications who will be able to advise you of the best options to fix your line either remotely or by organising an engineer to visit your property.

If your phone system was installed by Best 4 Business we will be able to dial in remotely to your phone system and check any faults without a site visit instantly.
